Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ramireztamales@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Ramirez Tamales are fully cooked when delivered. The BEST way to reheat them is to steam them.

  • If frozen, put them in the fridge to thaw overnight. You can steam them from a frozen state, but it will take longer.
  • Use a steamer pot or vegetable steamer, place water in the bottom of the pan. Water should come up to the bottom of the steamer basket, but not overflow above the basket.
  •  Place the tamales in the basket standing upright with the open end facing up. Pack them somewhat loosely so the steam can circulate, and leave the husks or parchment wrappers on.
  • Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low to maintain a steady simmer.
  • Once the pot starts to steam, cook for 15–25 minutes. (For frozen tamales, steam for 35–40 minutes.)
  • Check the temperature of the meat/beans with a thermometer. The internal temperature should be 165 degrees or above.

If you don't want to steam them, they can be reheated in the microwave. We recommend arranging them in a circular pattern on a plate and covering with a wet paper towel. Cook for 90 seconds, check the temperature and cook again in 30 second increments until hot and center reach reaches 165 degrees.

No, our tamales are not vegan. The masa contains pork fat.
